Newsletter – Term 3 Week 4, 2023

August 2, 2023

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents & Guardians

Welcome to Week 4 of Term 3

Many of today’s messages are those of gratitude for the many people who work to make our school such a wonderful family community.

Thanks to all who helped at NAIDOC Day last Thursday.  The day is always a very special celebration on the Joey’s annual calendar.  Thanks to all who volunteered their time to make the day a huge success.  Well done to Jessie Ivers for her work to make the day such a special event and for the P&F Association for generously providing a sausage sizzle for our kids on the day.

A huge thank-you to Leah Benson who has offered to co-ordinate the Joey’s teams that will take part in the Saturday morning Junior Touch competition.  With the season starting on Saturday the 12th of August, I would also like to thank all of the community members who have volunteered.

It is with much pride that we acknowledge our wonderful Outside School Hour Care Director, Chelsea Holden who on the 24th of July, marked 21 years of service at St Joseph’s Park Avenue.  Chelsea is a great servant of Catholic Education who provides a huge wealth of experience as an educator and carer.  As Principal, I have been very privileged to work with Chelsea and appreciate her commitment to the students, parents, staff and community of St Joseph’s.  Well done Chelsea, we love having you as a part of our community and I am sure many would acknowledge that you have made a difference in the lives of thousands of students at Joeys and beyond over the last 21 years.

This month we will be celebrating the St Joseph’s Park Avenue Kindy’s 10Year Anniversary.  On Wednesday 30th August, the Kindy will be holding a ‘Stay and Play’ morning for families with Mr Fitz sharing his favourite childhood book with the current Kindy kids followed by the cutting of a 10th Anniversary cake.  More details will be sent out to current families in the coming weeks.

St Joseph’s Kindy Enrolments for 2024 are open.  To find out more about St Joseph’s Kindergarten, including the current statement of fees, please scan the attached QR code or go to their website –

Prep Interviews for 2024 are currently well underway and will be closing in the next week.  With 2024 offers being emailed out on August 18th, any current siblings wanting to attend need to have had an enrolment interview booked by the end of this week.  If this has slipped your mind, please contact the school office immediately to book a time as soon as possible.  The absolute cut-off date for enrolment in 2024 would be Tuesday the 8th of August.
