Welcome to St Joseph’s Catholic School, Park Avenue. I wish to acknowledge that our school is built on Darumbal land, and we pay our respects to the people of this land both past, present and emerging.
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Thank you for your interest in St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Park Avenue. As Principal, I feel very proud to be part of such a wonderful, generous community. I hope over time, you too will also regard your time in our community to be welcoming and life giving.
St Joseph’s offers a Catholic education within the North Rockhampton Catholic Community having a close relationship with Our Lady Help of Christians parish with the church being adjacent to the school. We are a two-stream, Kindergarten to Year 6 facility that strives for excellence in teaching and learning.
Our school values of Self-Worth, Mutual Acceptance and Personal Responsibility are ‘lived daily’ and embedded into our everyday practices. We are committed to providing contemporary learning opportunities with state-of-the-art facilities and resources.
St Joseph’s fosters positive partnerships as well as authentic and open relationships and communication with our staff, students and families. All members of our community are valued as we strive to enrich our Catholic community by providing a learning environment that is empowering to all. Our dedicated, professional staff endeavour to provide a supportive learning environment for students to learn and grow in all facets of their life. As a school community, we strive to develop our student’s spiritual, social-emotional, cognitive and physical needs, establishing a solid and broad foundation for lifelong learning and wellbeing. Our school utilises programs such as Peer Support Australia and You Can Do It, to foster social-emotional growth in areas such as resilience, persistence, friendship, and confidence.
In 2021, our School Improvement Priorities are:
At St Joseph’s we provide a variety of academic, spiritual, cultural and sporting opportunities for our students throughout the year. At the culmination of each Semester, we acknowledge the educational growth of our students through Academic Award and Cultural assemblies. Our school offers services such as ‘Breakfast Club’ as well as having a dedicated Outside of School Hours and Vacation Care service.
At St Joseph’s we aim to provide a calm, caring, family environment. We work hard to make students, parents and carers feel safe and welcome and that their input is valued. St Joseph’s has a strong commitment to Student Protection, and we acknowledge that student safety is paramount, knowing that students who feel safe and secure are also better learners. By applying a holistic approach to education, we strive to develop students who are well equipped for our world to be forward thinking, hope filled, upstanding members of society both now, and in the future.
I look forward to building strong relationships with you and your family in the future.
Kindest Regards,
Bernard Fitzgerald
